OVERVIEW:

The retail ecosystem and the world of supply chains are transforming fast. Traditional supply chain thinking are no longer enough to solve the many challenges of today’s multichannel retail enterprise nor can it give the competitive edge needed to survive in today’s disruptive market place. A new way of thinking is needed to deal with current challenges in our supply chain system. In addition, delivering value chain adaptation in a networked supply chain can infact become a retail enterprise’s competitive weapon.

Running an agile supply chain means being able to quickly and accurately sense and respond to changes. Sounds simple, but as everyone knows, it is hard for companies to achieve agility in an environment that is defined by intense competition, high service expectations, unpredictable demand, and increasingly global supply chains.

This roundtable will take a deep dive into the issues, challenges and opportunities of building an agile and adaptive supply chain system, which is one the most critical issues giving enterprise owners, leaders and executive sleepless nights and explore the principles and best practices building an agile system that effective and efficient.

The event is set forth to help enterprise level leaders and supply chain executive understand how to take advantage of supply chain global best practices and technologies, and adapt them to local realities to engage with consumers on a higher level, achieve unparalleled customer service and experience (effectiveness), significantly drive cost down (efficiency), increase competitive advantage, improve the bottom line, and much more.

BUILDING AN AGILE SUPPLY CHAIN SYSTEM:

In the new, global retail economy, retailers are under pressure to optimize supply chain efficiency and provide seamless service for customers who are increasingly defining how companies structure their supply chains. They can now shop anytime and anywhere, are more aware and demanding, and expect a more fulfilling experience from retailers. As competition intensifies and consumers become savvier, many businesses are struggling to balance efficient fulfilment in response to fast-evolving customer demands with generating profitable returns. Coupled with the proliferation of online ordering, a growing number of delivery channels and a fast-changing supplier base, the supply chain is becoming a more critical component of a business than ever.

However, many organisations are grappling with finding an innovative approach to sourcing, replenishment and distribution to address these changes. Retailers are starting to seriously consider how best to optimise their supply chains to meet fast-evolving consumer demand, while minimising costs and achieving profitable growth. Yet many retail leaders expect growth opportunities to arise as a result of enhancing their supply chain performance.

This then raises the question: how retailers can best optimise their supply chains to differentiate themselves from their competitors and meet their financial goals?

To effectively answer this question, this roundtable will look at what the ideal supply chain should look like, how an agile supply chain system differs from today’s model, and how best to collaborate within the business as well as with suppliers to fulfil fast-evolving consumer demand. It will look at The following key supply chain challenges that influences the designing and execution of an agile supply chain system:

  • Achieving cost efficiency to overcome constant price and margin pressure arising from Intense, global retail competition
  • Extending global reach (Reach every market that matters) to achieve competitive advantage through access to global markets and sourcing quality low-cost goods from around the world.
  • Multi-channel fulfilment capable of delivering excellent levels of service, irrespective of whether customers shop in store or online, choosing home delivery options or click and collect.
  • Rapid, agile delivery system that is fast and responsive that understands speed is of the essence.
  • End-to-end security that reduces cost due to good supply chain visibility and shrinkage that maximize profitability and protect inventory.

Data and technology will play a critical role in optimising supply chains. The challenge in our environment is: how will retail leader gather clean data, effectively analyse and interpret data and use the insights gained as a competitive advantage, and to stand out from the competition by winning on ‘customer experience’ i.e. being responsive to consumer demand, providing greater product availability in a more cost effective manner, and offering the best service, pricing and overall experience?

Whatever the challenge may be, the time in now for retailers to move from traditional forecast-led supply chains to demand-driven supply chains, allowing them to be more predictive than reactive when meeting customer demand, and to respond swiftly to the rise in operational complexity and financial pressures.

This roundtable discussions therefore, will address key issues that are critical to building an agile supply chain system. It will consider critical issues like creating a demand-driven supply chain; evaluating total cost sourcing, warehousing, and inventory; enhancing supply chain financing and creating the best customer experience that wins in today’s very dynamic retail ecosystem.
